The John Paul Hammond Center for Harm Reduction

The John Paul Hammond Center for Harm Reduction (HRSC), located at 166 West Lehigh Avenue, Lower Level is open for drop-in hours Monday through Thursday (12 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.), and offers a range of services for participants. The HRSC offers a safe, comfortable environment for participants to rest and it is a reprieve from the harsh outdoors.

The HRSC also offers:

  • Referrals to legal assistance
  • HIV counseling and testing
  • Hepatitis C screening
  • Referrals and assistance with accessing services including drug treatment and public benefits
  • Food, clothing and referrals

We offer assistance in the admittance process to Medical Care facilities for those with chronic medical conditions.

In addition, participants have access to the following group activities:

Volunteer Group: Exchange participants and community members gather weekly at the HRSC to prepare safer-sex materials and bleach kits for the SEP sites and street outreach.
Safety Counts Group: This group provides participants with general health education and information and is specifically focused on prevention.
