Interning at Prevention Point Philadelphia is a valuable experience for students, staff, and participants. Interns become integral members of the PPP team, helping us to further our mission and provide the best possible service to participants.
We accept interns at both the undergraduate and graduate school level. Most commonly, our interns come from fields related to public health, social work, and the behavioral sciences, although we have accepted interns from such diverse fields as ecology, literature, and communications.
Interns have the opportunity to work in various PPP departments as well as on individual projects. Past intern assignments and duties have included:
- Assisting in Syringe Services
- Shadowing case managers
- Data entry for our medical programs
- Research and presentation creation
- Serving participants in our Drop-in Center
- COVID-19 community response
- Video creation and editing
- Creating content for social media and our our website
In the summer of 2020, our interns helped over 500 people file and receive their urgently needed stimulus checks from the federal government.
