On Saturday, August 2nd, Prevention Point Philadelphia hosted our second annual back-to-school giveaway at the Love Lot next to our main building. Our staff and volunteers were able to distribute over 260 backpacks filled with school supplies, helping prepare kindergarten, elementary, and middle school students in the Kensington neighborhood for the new school year.

The day was filled with fun, including music, games, and delicious food like water ice and hot dogs, provided by Chef Larry Anderson. Kids were also treated to face-painting by Amber Finnegan, and bicycle raffles, which were a highlight of the day.

Beyond the main event, an additional 50 backpacks and supplies were delivered to neighborhood schools near PPP to support area families.

Prevention Point is committed to providing resources that benefit our community and support our neighbors in Kensington. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who donated school supplies, making this event possible.
A big thank you to NBC10 for featuring our giveaway. You can watch the full story here.
