On Sunday, August 11, Prevention Point Philadelphia hosted our first-ever back-to-school giveaway in the Love Lot adjacent to our main building. Our staff and volunteers distributed over 250 backpacks filled with school supplies for kindergarten, elementary and middle school students. The festivities also included music, games, water ice, hot dogs by Chef Larry Anderson, face-painting by Amber Finnegan, and giveaways including a bicycle raffle.

An additional 50 backpacks with supplies were delivered to KenCrest and Visitation Schools, both located near our emergency shelter Beacon House. Staff delivered additional school supplies to McPherson Square Library and Francis E Willard Elementary School.

Prevention Point believes in supporting our Kensington neighbors and providing resources to benefit the community. We're grateful to everyone who came out to the Love Lot and spent the afternoon with us. A special thanks to the AIDS Fund for donating many school supplies to Prevention Point for this special event.

Thanks also to FOX29, NBC10, and WPHL17 for featuring the giveaway:
